APPLICATION OF BIMF TO BECOME A MEMBER OF FISM
On November 11th, 2014, I received the application letter that the BIMF Magic Club sent to me asking to become a member society of FISM. All the necessary documents (list of the members, Statutes of the club, sponsorship letters, one from Korea and one from abroad, were sent in attachment. The entrance fees were paid.
Art. 10.5 of the FISM Statutes states that “The Board of Directors will be charged to gather information concerning the magical standing of the applicant Society. The result of this inquiry will be sent to the General Assembly before the voting ».
It’s my pleasure to share the result of our inquiry with you :
-‐ Starting in 2006 BIMF (Busan International Magic Festival) has developed a huge activity promoting the Art of Magic in Korea and around the world.
-‐ They organized seventy-‐two lectures with some of the most famous magicians from all over the world.
-‐ They organized more than twenty gala shows with top performers like Norbert Ferrè, Soma, Yu Ho Jin, Charming Choi, Eun Gyeol Lee, An Ha Lim, Han Seoul Hui, Christopher Hart, Rick Merrill, Goldfinger & Dove, Kenji Minemura, Marc Oberon, Julius Frack, John Carney, David Sousa, Jason Latimer, Viktor Voitko, Richard Forget, Johnny Lonn, Mike Ammar, Tina Lenert, Timo Marc, Juan Mayoral, Haruo Shimada, Juliana Chen, Alana, David Stone, Topas, Levent, Ta Na Manga, Shawn Farquhar, David Kaplan, Yuji Yasuda, Jerome Helfenstein, Shoot Ogawa, Johan Stalh, James Dimmare, Yumi, Jordan Gomez,
Fred Cie Poc, Jerome Murat, Charlie Fry, etc. (The list is very long.)
-‐ They organized nine open air gala shows on the famous Hundae Beach attended by up to 30.000 people each time.
-‐ They organized many magic shows dedicated to the youngsters (to promote the Art of Magic)
-‐ They launched an active campaign condemning the copying of magic props and effects.
-‐ They organized nine international competitions attended by hundreds of magicians (some of whom have become very famous since) using the FISM judging criteria and calling on an international panel of qualified judges (Eberhard Riese, Ton Onosaka, Gerrit Brengman, Yuji Yasuda, Eric Eswin, Dale Salwak, Domenico Dante, Yuji Yamamoto, Albert Tam, Obie O’Brien, Joan Caesar, etc.).
-‐ They also organized three important symposiums on « How to make ‘Magic in Korea’ Popularized, Industrialized and Globalized » attended by several FISM Officers, professors from different Korean universities as well as the press.
The voting for the admission of the BIMF Magic Club to the FISM will be done, as per our rules, next January 2015.
